Every time I am out in public with one of Our Collies, an older person will stop me, pet the
dog affectionately, tell me they were raised with a Collie and “that was the best dog
we ever had!” Followed sadly by, “but you just don’t see them around anymore.”
We’re fixing that, one family at a time.
Perhaps you didn’t know that Collies really are the best dogs! Or maybe you do, and you are looking for that very special Collie to join your family.
Whitehall Collies breeds just a small number of select puppies each year. If we don’t have availability here, tell us what you are looking for, and from our nationwide network of reputable Collie breeder-members of the Collie Club of America, we can make recommendations to help you find that perfect new family member.
Kristy McTaggart holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant in essential hypertension for the University Department of Medicine. Kristy owned Siberian Huskies and bred several litters of Shar Pei before she and her husband, Ed McTaggart, acquired their first Rough Collie from Classique Collies in 2009.
The McTaggarts both enjoyed professional music careers – he as the drummer for Christian alternative band Daniel Amos (DanielAmos.com) and she as backup pianist for the big band swing orchestra Wartime Radio Revue (wartimeradio.com). In addition, they are both graphics professionals and former owners of ColorEdge, Inc., a boutique ad agency in Costa Mesa, California.
An abrupt move to the Atlanta area in 2013, due to Ed’s job transfer, upended some of Kristy’s pursuits. Still, their new home on two wooded acres in a semi-rural setting in Dacula, Georgia opened a new opportunity. Kristy was able to fulfill her storybook dream of breeding beautiful AKC Rough Collies for family companions and the show ring. In the process, she has become a passionate promoter of Collies, because they really are “the best dogs!”
Kristy McTaggart is active in both National and State Collie clubs. She is Editor in Chief of the Collie Club of America Yearbook, designing and producing the 600+ page annual since 2017. She is a past Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Collie Club of Georgia Inc., and a member of the Collie Health Foundation and Dog Writers Association of America.

We aim for just one or two high quality litters per year, so we are selective about their eventual homes. We work with other top breeder-members of the Collie Club of America, around the country, to make the very best matches for our girls. So whatever purpose you have in mind for your Collie, you can be assured top genetics, temperament and health is “baked in” to every puppy here.
We place potential show puppies we aren’t keeping for our own program into experienced show homes. But most of our beautiful, healthy, well-socialized puppies will live their lives as treasured companions for those who appreciate these unique dogs, and want a Collie that exemplifies all this breed offers.
